Location of the month:
Bannockburn House – on Screen

Bannockburn House, a 17th-century mansion near Stirling, features prominently in Outlander: Blood of My Blood (prequel series) as the home of Lady Nairn, with scenes filmed in the Laigh Hall, Bonnie Prince Charlie Bedchamber, and the Jacobean Dining Room. It also hosted Jacobite meetings, including one involving Rob Roy.
  • Outlander: Blood of My Blood (Prequel): The house is used extensively, including for brothel scenes with Henry and as Lady Nairn’s residence in the episode “Luceo Non Uro”.
  • Interior Features: The Laigh Hall and the Jacobean Dining Room/Library were used for filming.
  • History Connection: The real house is famous for hosting Bonnie Prince Charlie for several weeks in 1746.
  • Visiting: The Bannockburn House Trust offers tours.

Bannockburn House offers a setting of rare authenticity for television, film, and photography. Unlike polished heritage venues, its lived-in character — layered textures, period features, and atmospheric interiors — provides directors and photographers with an adaptable canvas that feels both timeless and true. The estate’s privacy ensures discretion for high-profile productions, while its scale and variety (from grand rooms to intimate corners, gardens, and outbuildings) allow multiple narratives to be captured in a single location. With its history of rebellion and romance, Bannockburn brings built-in storylines and visual richness that few sites can match, making it a natural partner for productions seeking both beauty and authenticity.
